CRUSOE captured the inaugural running of the S$200,000 Singapore Four-Year-Old Mile at Kranji today. The New Zealand gelding by Volksraad out of the Kaapstad mare Caserio found themselves in front and stayed there till the post. CRUSOE had half-a-length to spare from GRADUATE BOY with WORLD DELIGHT a long third. It was another success partnership between trainer Laurie Laxon and jockey Aaron Spiteri. The pair went up north the captured the RM1.35m Penang Gold Cup with EXPUNGE on new year's eve. Meanwhile, WHY BE continued his winning ways with a hard-fought victory in the Kranji Stakes A - 1200m sprint. It was the eighth consecutive win and the 17th overall, from 20 starts, for the four-year-old Australian gelding by Success Express out of the Royal Academy mare Hold Your Peace. |
