Apprentice Lim suspended another 3 months

Apprentice Lim Hock Kheng, currently serving a three-suspension in the case of TRIPLE A, has been suspended a further three months for his handling of STAR OF IRGUN in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 3, when the son of Irgun came from near last at the home turn to finish fourth to VODKA N ICE in Class 5, Div 2 - 1400m sprint.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Lim, the rider of STAR OF IRGUN, in the presence of his master, trainer Dr S H Tan, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

The particulars of the charge were that from the 250m to the finish of the race, whilst using his whip in the left hand which was his weaker hand, be became unbalanced on his mount and failed to ride his horse out with his normal vigour and style.

Lim was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months from Feb 12 to May 11, 2008. His suspension is to run consecutive to his current three-month suspension. He was informed of his right of appeal.
