Ishibiliya is champion 3YO in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR,  4 November 2007

The inaugural running of the RM250,000 Da Ma Cai Malaysia 3YO Championship ran true to form at Sungei Besi here this afternoon.

The three best performed horses of the 14-strong field, the only ones with multiple wins behind them, filled the first three placings in the 1200m sprint in which the contenders were selected from a total of nine heats staged in Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and Penang during the past two months.

However, it was ISHBILIYA, the only filly in the field, who put the males to shame with a scintillating performance.

Although unbeaten in her previous two starts, the Australian filly by Akhadan out of Ginger Raja (by Devaraja) had qualified with a very slow time here in September.

But ISHBILIYA showed that she has improved tremendously since by defeating JAZZMINT DELIGHT (Viking Ruler - Kaapaya by Kaapstad), denying the latter a four consecutive win.

MIGHTY TRIPLE ACE (Testa Rossa - Brave Scene by Scenic), winner of his first starts, could only finish third despite winning a Class 4 race in a time of 1:10.8 last time out.
