Apprentice Jacky Lim creates history

IPOH,  21 April 2007

Jacky Lim rode into the record books when he booted home five winners here today to become the apprentice with the most number of wins in one afternoon.

Lim served a shock when he partnered outside FORTUDA (7 ch.a.g Lomond Bay - Getting Better by Jungle Boy), trained by Kevin Coetzee, to victory in the Class 5, Div 3 - 1400m sprint.

He went on to land three more winners for leading trainer Coetzee on ROUSING WIND, IMPERIAL DECREE and XIAO XING XING before rounding up with GENERAL SPIRIT for trainer Lim Hoon Seng.

Meanwhile, FREE SPIRIT made amends for his expensive failure in the Selangor Gold Cup a fortnight ago to win the Class 1 - 1200m sprint.

The seventh win in 18 starts for the Australian five-year-old by Citidancer from the Star Pak mare Star Party also sets him up nicely for the RM500,000 Perak Derby (2400m) next week which will be run at weight-for-age for the first time this year.
