'Captain' gives Laxon 500th Singapore win

SINGAPORE,  16 February 2007

Champion trainer Laurie Laxon saddled three winners in quick succession at Kranji tonight to bring his total haul in Singapore to an impressive 500 wins.

The kiwi reached the milestone when MY ROYAL CAPTAIN (4 b.nz.g Zabeel - Kiwi Magic by Vice Regal) came right again after a spell to win first-up in the Progress - 1400m sprint.

MY ROYAL CAPTAIN began his career with a 'bang', winning his first three starts in impressive fashion. Although unplaced in his next start, he was taken to Dubai where he managed a third in two starts. On his return, he was placed twice in three outings before being sent to the paddock.

Earlier, Laxon's COPPOLA (4 b.nz.g Danske - Elabama Star by Star Way) also bounced back after more than a year out in the cold to record his third win and GUY OF WARWICK (3 ch.nz.g High Yield - Down View by Gone West) made it two wins in three starts.
