During his time riding in
Hong Kong, Frenchman Eric Legrix had ridden many winners for trainer David
Hill.
It was perhaps fitting that
the Englishman, who moved to Singapore two years ago, should provide the
42-year-old's first winner at Kranji when Legrix nursed STILLETO (6 b.a.m
Clang - Wa Wa Nee by Waajib) home to win the Class 5 - 1100m sprint on the
fibresand track.
Winner of two races in New
Zealand, STILLETO had struggled to find her form since making her debut in
February last year. The patient riding of Legrix, however, brought her home
for her maiden in 24 starts in Singapore.
Legrix, granted a six-month
licence to ride in Singapore, did not have the start to his stint as he
would have wanted. A winless debut meeting early this month was followed by
a two-day suspension for careless riding. But all that is forgotten today
with the breakthrough win.
