Magic Millions sponsors Juvenile Championship

SINGAPORE,  27 June 2007

Australian auction house Magic Millions will be sponsoring the Juvenile Championship for the first time this year.

The S$200,000 race for two-year-olds run over 1200m on the turf on July 27 will be named Magic Millions Juvenile Championship.

David Chester, Managing Director of Magic Millions said: “We are delighted to be able to sponsor one of the key races on the Singapore racing calendar. Our company is renowned for producing high class juveniles in both Australia and overseas and we see this race as the perfect feature event to put our name to. We have many clients in Singapore and sponsoring the Juvenile Championship gives us the opportunity to give something back to these clients and gives us a great chance to promote our brand to one of the world’s biggest and most progressive racing regions. We hope to reach out to the region’s owners and trainers, and at the same time support Singapore racing,”

Commented Yu Pang Fey, President and Chief Executive, Singapore Turf Club, “We are delighted to have Magic Millions sponsor the main race for our two-year-olds. Magic Millions is an innovative company highly regarded in the industry for their quality of horses and expertise in thoroughbred sales. Their sponsorship of the Juvenile Championship marks the start of a new collaboration and we look forward to a successful partnership.”

Magic Millions’ involvement with Singapore racing began in 1993 with the staging of the S$1m Argyle Diamonds Singapore Magic Millions Classic which was won by MAGIC GUEST. It was the first-ever million dollar race staged in Singapore (at the then Bukit Timah Racecourse).

Magic Millions also held auctions in Singapore and sponsored several races there in conjunction with the sales.

In recent times, Magic Millions has been sponsoring the Malaysian Magic Millions Classic in Penang with the current prizemoney being RM350,000. It is also the auctioneers for the National Premier Sale held by the National Stud Farm.
