Syce Michael Yeoh Thiam
Choy has been disqualified three years after the Stewards concluded an
inquiry today into various items seized from trainer John Nikolic's stable
block during a routine stable inspection at the Perak Turf Club on Feb 14.
The inquiry was held in the absence of Yeoh
failed to attend the hearing.
After considering all the evidence, Yeoh was
found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 106(2)(a)&(b) which reads:
“No person other than the Veterinary Surgeon, or person authorized in
writing by him, shall have in his possession in any restricted area:
(a) any prohibited substance;
(b) any means of administering of any substance which may, in the opinion of
the Stipendiary Stewards, affect the performance of the horse.”
The particulars of the charge were that during a routine stable inspection
conducted by the Stipendiary Stewards within trainer J Nikolic’s stable
complex at the Perak Turf Club on Feb 14, Yeoh had in his possession,
without authorization, various prohibited substances namely Dexamethasone
and Salicylic Acid as well as numerous hypodermic syringes and
needles capable of being used for the administration of such substances to
the horses that were under the care of Nikolic.
After further deliberation, the Stewards exercised their full powers on
penalty and Yeoh was disqualified for a period of three years with immediate
effect from today and to expire on April 26, 2010, both days inclusive. He
would be advised of his right of appeal. |
