Pinfield quits Singapore for second time

SINGAPORE,  6 December 2007

Trainer Timothy Pinfield is quitting the Singapore racing scene, for the second time.

The Englishman has written to inform that he is withdrawing his application to MRA to renew his Professional Trainer Licence for the 2008 racing season due to declining horse numbers.

The Singapore Turf Club said in a statement that it will be "working with Trainer Pinfield and his owners to assist them to transfer their horses to other trainers".

"The Club would like to thank Trainer Pinfield for his contributions to Singapore racing during his time at Kranji and wishes him the very best in his future endeavours."

Pinfield first came to Singapore in 2002, saddling one winner that year. He sent out 17 winners the following season, then returned to Ireland in December 2003 to sort out some personal matters.

Pinfield returned to Singapore to resume training in June 2004 and in six months, saddled 12 winners. He had respectable haul of 17 and 19 winners respectively in the last two years but has so far saddled only eight winners this season.

According to the MRA register, Pinfield has 24 horses currently in his yards.
