Apprentice Ryan Plumb to ride in Singapore

SINGAPORE,  21 January 2007

Ryan Plumb

Australian apprentice jockey Ryan Plumb has been granted a one-month visiting jockey’s licence by the Singapore Turf Club from Feb 1. He will be indentured to trainer Steven Burridge.

Although only 17, Plumb has successfully ridden in all three Eastern states in Australia, winning the North Queensland apprentice premiership in 2005/06. His high work rate earned him the record of being the youngest Queensland apprentice to clock up 1,000 rides.

Plumb, who is the son of Brisbane jockey-turned-trainer Lyle Plumb, is currently licensed by Queensland Racing. Although he has travelled to other countries to gain insight into their racing industry, Singapore will be his first overseas race-riding experience. In 2004, he spent six months at leading trainer Criquette Head’s yard in Chantilly, France, and rode trackwork daily for six weeks at the Grandstand Stables in Dubai.

Plumb goes to scale at 50kgs.
