New trainer Roy Rogers
marked his first day "at the office" with a winner in a special one-day
professional/amateur meeting for home based horses here today.
The Australian, who
obtained his MRA licence just three weeks ago, had two runners today. His
second, TULSA, showed vast improvement on his recent outings to snatch a
narrow win in the Class 5, Div 1 - 1200m sprint.
TULSA (5 b.nz.g Kilimanjaro
- Outburst by Manntari) had 6 runs in Singapore last year for a win over
1400m.
Sent over to Malaysia,
TULSA made no impression in five starts before Rogers transformed the horses
in a matter of three weeks to score today.
BIG ZOOM, unplaced in three
previous starts, beat four runners to win the second Penang heat of the Da
Ma Cai Malaysia 3YO Championship over 1200m.
