Saimee suspended one month

SINGAPORE,  12 November 2007

Saimee Jumaat, who has been booting home winners at amazing strike rate since resuming last September after a disqualification, will have to take a breather for the next one month.

The Singaporean, who became the first local rider to chalk up 1,000 winners two weekends ago, has been suspended one month for careless riding which resulted in two jockeys being dislodged in the third race at Kranji last Saturday.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Saimee, the rider of SUCCESS WONG, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding in the third race on Saturday, near the 750m, he shifted his mount outwards from behind DUSTIN (B Vorster), when insufficiently clear, thereby carrying ROYAL KNIGHT (O Bosson) out into the running of LORD OCTAGON (S John), which clipped the heels of ROYAL KNIGHT, fell and dislodged its rider. As a consequence, STANDBYME (V Sivan), which was following, was also severely inconvenienced resulting in its rider being dislodged. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness. Saimee was suspended from riding in races for a period of one month with immediate effect from today to December 11 and was advised of his right of appeal.
