SETEMBRO CHOVE wins the Kranji

SETEMBRO CHOVE
resumed after his splendid fourth in the Singapore Airlines International
Cup (SAIC) last May to win the $500,000 Panasonic Kranji Mile over 1600m
here today.
In doing so, the
six-year-old by Fast Gold out of the Knifebox mare Setting Trends created a
bit of history by become the first Brazilian bred to capture a Group 1 event
in Singapore.
SETEMBRO CHOVE came from a
long way back early to defeat KIM INVADER, winner of nine races in Australia
and one at Kranji thus far. KING AND KING was not disgraced when he finished
third.
A Group 1 winner from among
seven victories in his native Brazil, SETEMBRO CHOVE showed his potential
last year when he finished second in the Patrons' Bowl and third in the
Singapore Derby.
He was second in the
Chairman's Trophy and fourth in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup this year before
his terrific run in the SAIC.
Trainer Patrick Shaw has nominated him for
both the Hong Kong Cup (2000m) and Hong Kong Vase (2400m) and is hopeful of
an invite.
