Singapore races for Macau soon

SINGAPORE,  19 September 2007

Racing enthusiasts in Macau will soon be able to watch and bet on Singapore races, in addition to Malaysian races which they have enjoyed since last year.

The Singapore Turf Club and Macau Jockey Club (MJC) are in the process of finalising a partnership to televise Singapore races ‘live’ to Macau and for MJC to operate the totalisator on Singapore races.

Teo Kim Heng, Vice President (Sales and Business Development), Singapore Turf Club, commented: “The forthcoming tie-up with Macau Jockey Club will provide us with yet another excellent opportunity to showcase Singapore racing and our products and services to racing fans outside Singapore. This is very much in line with our strategic plan to bring Singapore races to a wider audience overseas and Macau will join Australia and South Africa, where Singapore races are already broadcast live.”

Ronnie Chan, Betting Controller of MJC, said: “We have submitted the application to the Macau Gaming Authority and we are expecting their approval sometime this October. This new simulcast partnership with the Singapore Turf Club will enable us to bring to the racing fans in Macau and the near vicinity more quality races from overseas. We are confident that the reputed Singapore races will become more and more popular with our fans over time.”
