Jeram Special triumphs in Selangor Gold Cup

KUALA LUMPUR,  8 April 2007

JERAM SPECIAL, who has been one of Malaysia's top gallopers in the last two seasons, finally has a classic to his name.

Ridden by Azhar Ismail, the Australian five-year-old by Tayasu Tsuyoshi out of the Protos mare Playtoss stepped up on his eye-catching third to EMPEROR COMMANDS in the MRA Cup last week to capture the RM500,000 Selangor Gold Cup over 1600m at Sungei Besi here today.

JERAM SPECIAL won the weight-for-age  event from CONTINUANCE with outsider DESTINY PRIZED.

Trainer by Frank Maynard for champion owners Gold Plus Stable, JERAM SPECIAL was second in the 2005 Yang Di Pertua Negeri Gold Cup, and also second in the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor and Astro Wah Lai Toi Vase and third in the Raffles Cup last year.

The Gold Cup is his eighth win in 24 starts.
