Malaysian clubs offer uniform stakesmoney

KUALA LUMPUR,  29 March 2007

The three Malaysian clubs will offer uniform stakesmoney with effect from the Selangor Gold Cup meeting beginning this Saturday.

In the past few years, the Penang Turf Club (PNTC) had raised their prizemoney twice, creating a huge gap between what they offer and that available at the Perak and Selangor Turf Clubs.

However, standardizing the stakesmoney at the three clubs actually means that the PNTC will be reducing their stakesmoney.

In a statement made to the press, PNTC general manager Robin Rizal Tan noted that the three Malaysian clubs have each been introducing
various forms of incentive schemes including different stakesmoney.

"However, to improve the industry, the three clubs must act as one,
be consistent and united in their attempts to improve the industry further.

"As such, the standardizing of the stakes is one of the prime movers towards project unity.

"Admittedly, we have reduced our stakes but this is only carried so as to allow the other two clubs (Perak and Selangor Turf Clubs) to take a
step forward in the required and unified direction, which ultimately reflects favourably on the industry.

"Industry players will now be able to enjoy collective benefits in terms of revised stakesmoney from all three clubs.

"We hope that with this first step, the three clubs will stride out more boldly with increase of stakesmoney and other incentive schemes which will benefit the industry players," Tan concluded.
