US$1.3m colt to race in Singapore

SINGAPORE,  16 January 2007

An American horse which was sold for US$1.3 million at the Keeneland Yearling Sales in 2004 has found his way to Singapore.

The colt, purchased by Irish veterinarian Demi O’Byrne on behalf of Coolmore Stud, was named ZINZAN and entered the race tracks only as a three-year-old last year.

By the Gone West stallion Grand Slam out of the Honey Jay mare Sheza Honey, ZINZAN was also nominated for the Triple Crown series.

Despite a fifth, a second, then a win over 7 furlongs (1408m) at Keeneland from his first three starts, he was deemed not good enough to tackle the Triple Crown races.

After a further fourth and a second in two more starts, Zinzan landed in Singapore in October last year and has been registered as SUPERB HIGHNESS and placed under up-and-coming trainer Desmond Koh.

SUPERB HIGHNESS is from the first crop of progeny by Grand Slam, who raced 15 times in USA for four wins which included the Grade 1 Meot Champagne Stakes and the Grade 1 Futurity Stakes. Sheza Honey was placed once at three.
