TRIGGER EXPRESS came from last at the home turn to snatch victory in the
Group 3 S$200,000 Chairman's Trophy over 1800m at Kranji here tonight.
Lowest rated in a field of
ten, the five-year-old Australian gelding by Citidancer out of the
Chanteclair mare Rich Resource defeated a field which included three past
Singapore Gold Cup winners, MR LINE, TERFEL and RAUL.
The win was the first Group
success for Japanese jockey Kanichiro Fujii who has previously tasted Listed
success in Australia where he horned his skill.
For trainer Steven Burridge,
it was his second Group 3 win of the season, after the Three Rings Trophy
with WORLD DELIGHT.
Desmond Koh, meanwhile,
stole the thunder early in the evening when he saddled the winners of the
first three races with HAN EFFECT, SINMA CHAMPION and GEMINI.
Benny Woodworth, due to
ride in the HK$3m Hong Kong-Macau Trophy in Macau next Sunday, booted home
newcomer SINMA CHAMPION and GEMINI.
