Malaysian apprentices
snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the annual apprentice jockeys
challenge against their Singapore counterparts at Sungei Besi here
today.
The Malaysians trailed
after the first event yesterday when T Affandi give the visitors an early
lead scoring on TANGESH.
The Singapore lads
stretched their lead today when S H Low romped to an easy win on CANCER
(East Rocking - Spirit Of Venus by Celestial Dancer) in
the Class 4 - 1400m sprint. At this stage, Singapore led Malaysia by 61
points to 39.
But the home team managed a
1-2 finish in the final event, the Class 4 - 1800m handicap when Alex Chew
scored on BRAHMS RETURN (Brahms - A Love Story by El Prado) to make 79-71
points for the Malaysians. Both sides are now tied at 3-3 in the series
which started in 2003.
The individual trophy went
to S H Low with 29 points. |
