Newcomer CELINE STAR gave
former Melbourne trainer Cliff Brown his first success in Singapore when the
three-year-old mastered AQUILA after a keen tussle to win the Emirates Paris
Stakes (Class 4, Div 2 - 1200m) here today.
Brown celebrated the
breakthrough with a second winner two races later with DARING COMMANDER in
the Emirates Dubai Stakes (Class 4 - 1600m).
It was been a long wait for
Brown, who saddled his first Singapore runner back in February.
“As soon as Celine Star was over the line, I was on the phone calling my
wife Jo and then Dad.
“This is a massive relief. It’s the first time I’ll be
able to have a good night’s sleep tonight,” said Brown, who has trained many
Group winners in Australia such as TARNPIR LANE and THE A TRAIN.
CELINE
STAR (West Quest - Call Me Nonie by ExitFive B) raced thrice for a win at
Kyneton and a placing before coming to Singapore.
Brown
took over DARING COMMANDER (The Commander - Letty by Touching Wood) in April
and today's run was his fifth for him.
