Texter disqualified, trainer Burridge fined

SINGAPORE,  29 August 2008

TEXTER, winner of the Class 5 - 1800m handicap on July 13, has been disqualified from the race and trainer Steven Burridge fined S$10,000 after his post-race blood sample revealed the presence of 3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan.

TEXTER’s referee sample, sent overseas for independent analysis at the request of Burridge, confirmed the presence of the substance.

At the conclusion of an inquiry yesterday, Burridge was found guilty to a charge under MRA Rule of Racing 134(6) in that he was the trainer of TEXTER which took part in Race 10 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on July 13 following which a urine sample taken from that horse failed a post-race screening when it was found to contain the presence of 3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan, a prohibited substance under the MRA rules of racing.

In terms of Rule 134(10), TEXTER was disqualified from the race and the result amended accordingly.
