Macau jockey scores first win in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR,  16 August 2008

Macau jockey C F Chan, who had a second and fourth from two rides last week, broke through for his first win in Malaysia when he guided UNIVERSAL ASSET to victory in the Class 5 - 1200m sprint at Sungei Besi here today, his second ride of the afternoon.

UNIVERSAL ASSET (Sandtrap - Our Good Win by Sound Reason), a veteran with four wins previously, scored comfortable to win by a length for his first success in more than 26 months.

Mohd Fadzlei, who lost the chance to ride two winners last Sunday after he was certified unwell, picked up an unexpected ride in the first race today and promptly scored on BEAUTY SPOT to make up for the lost opportunity.

BEAUTY SPOT (Shrewdy - Jewelia by Blushing Scribe), who found one to beat in his last three starts, broke through for a narrow victory in his eighth start.

Fadzlei then completed a double when he partnered JOKER DE BEST (Red Eye Special - Pippen by Pembroke) to win the last event of the day.
