Triumphant return for Cheyenne Dancer

CHEYENNE DANCER made a triumphant return to Singapore to capture the Panasonic Astrovision Stakes (Kranji Stakes A - 1200m) at Kranji today.

CHEYENNE DANCER (Indian Danehill - Daylight Hour by Brief Truce) won two ordinary races in Singapore before he was shipped across the causeway where he picked five wins from eight starts including the 2007 Malaysia Magic Millions Classic.

The Frank Maynard trained gelding also finished second in the Tunku Gold Cup and the MRA Cup earlier this season.

With Singapore opening up their cross-border races to Kuala Lumpur based this season, CHEYENNE DANCER seized the opportunity to return to Kranji. Despite a wide draw and the soft going, he defeated some of the top sprinters here for an upset victory.

“He’s a pretty smart horse and he is certainly not without some class. I’m not at all surprised he won today," said Maynard who was on hand to witness the victory. "This win in Singapore means a lot to me as I’ve always wanted to win a race here. Two years ago, I sent JERAM SPECIAL to race in the Raffles Cup and he ran third."
