Lim and Wong fined, horses disqualified

Trainers Lim Hoon Seng and Wong Kong Fatt were today fined RM10,000 each after samples taken from their horses returned positive to “3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan”, a prohibited substance under MRA rules, last month.

ROYAL BEAUTY finished third in a Class 5 - 1200m sprint in Penang on Oct 11.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Lim pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) in that he accepted to run ROYAL BEAUTY which finished 3rd in the above race and its post-race urine sample subsequently returned positive to “3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan”, a prohibited substance under MRA rules.

In deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the mitigating factors, Lim’s guilty plea as well as his record. Lim was fined RM10,000 and was advised of his right of appeal.

In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), ROYAL BEAUTY was disqualified from the race and the results were amended accordingly.

Wong also pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) in that he accepted to run BIG STEEL, which finished 14th in a Class 4 - 1600m handicap on the same date, and its post-race urine sample subsequently returned positive to “3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan”, a prohibited substance under MRA rules.

In deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the mitigating factors, Wong’s guilty plea as well as his record. Wong was fined RM10,000 and was advised of his right of appeal.

In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), BIG STEEL was disqualified from the race and the results were amended accordingly.
