The Perak Turf Club has decided to cancel the races scheduled for March 8, the third day of the club's March Meeting, which coincides with polling day in Malaysia's 12th general elections.

In a statement released today, the club said: "In view of the General Elections on Saturday, Mach 8, 2008, the committee of the Perak Turf Club has decided to cancel all the races scheduled on that day, including the simulcast of races from Macau Jockey Club.

The main purpose of canceling the races is to encourage all registered voters to coast their votes at the respective polling stations."

The statement added that the races on Sunday, March 9 will go on as usual.

Trainers have been requested to review and adjust their entries accordingly for Classes 3, 4 & 5. They have submit withdrawals by 10am on Monday.
