TRIPLE HAPPY, who went down
by a short head to GOLDEN ACE in the Tunku Gold Cup last year, was engaged
in another thrilling tussle in the 1200m sprint classic at Sungei Besi here today.
But this time, the
partnership of TRIPLE HAPPY (Bletchley Park - Red Marya by Red Anchor) and
jockey M Djulkifli came out tops, defeating
CHEYENNE DANCER who came into the race on the back of three consecutive
wins, the last of which was in the Malaysia 2007 Magic Millions Classic.
TRIPLE LUCK finished third
to give trainer Simon Liew a superb 1-3 in the first classic of the 2008
season.
After starting twice for a
win and third in 2005, TRIPLE HAPPY won six races and had two placings in
eight starts the
following year, including winning the RM1m Penang Sprint Trophy and the Pesta Pulau Pinang Cup.
After his narrow defeat in
the Tunku Gold Cup last year, he failed to impress in four runs after that,
until he bounced back to form today.
