Trainer Hoy Kee Poh was
fined RM30,000 at the conclusion of an inquiry into BIG TURNOUT returning a
positive swab after winning a Class 4 - 1400m sprint in Ipoh on April 12.
The post-race urine sample of BIG TURNOUT return positive to “Phenybutazone
and Oxyphenylbutazone”, a prohibited substance in terms of MRA rules.
At the conclusion of an inquiry yesterday, and after taking evidence from Dr
Alistair Murdoch, the senior veterinary surgeon of the Perak Turf Club and
Prof Dr Tan Soo Choon, the chief analyst, Usains Holding Sdn Bhd, trainer
Hoy Kee Poh pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with
MRA Rule 136(13) in that he was the trainer and person responsible for
racing the horse BIG TURNOUT which finished in first place in Race 6 at the
Perak Turf Club on April 12 .
In deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the type of
drug, the nature of the drug involved, Hoy’s guilty plea and his previous
record. Hoy was fined RM30,000 and was advised of his right of appeal.
In addition, in terms of MRA Rule 134(11), BIG TURNOUT was disqualified from
the race and the results were amended to read:
1st - PACIFIC GOLD (M Wepner)
2nd - MASTER JIANGMEN (App HS Gill)
3rd - BRILLIANT LEGEND (App I Fadzlei)
4th - JERAM FASHION (R Woodworth) |
