Trainer Johnny B T Lim,
fresh from winning his first classic with KIKO'S RETURN in the Perak Derby
last Sunday, stole the thunder again when he saddled five winners at Sungei
Besi today, the best showing by a trainer for a long time.
Among his winners were
SAGAR'S GREAT (late Kiko's Luck), who was racing under a new name for the
first time. The Kashani-Emanation gelding followed up on his last start success to win the Da Ma
Cai Stakes (Class 4 - 1600m) for his third win in eight starts.
JOKER SWORD (Strategic - Don't Tell Dinah by Is It True),
racing under Lim for the first time and resuming after a long layoff,
created the biggest upset of the day in a Class 4 - 1200m sprint, paying
RM205 for a win.
Adding today's haul to a
win he achieved yesterday, Lim has jumped to second in the trainer's table
with 18 winners, two behind John McGillivray who has 20 winners.
The biggest upset of the day came in a Classes
1 & 2 combined race over 1200m when BIG CROWN (Monde Beau - Arena Pride by
Nassipour), also racing after a spell, won narrowly to pay RM302 for a win.
