Kelantan bags Sports Toto Trophy

KUALA LUMPUR,  14 June 2008

KELANTAN, whose form nose-dived after he won the final leg of the Three-Year-Old Challenge in Singapore two years ago, has resurrected his career in Malaysia in spectacular fashion.

Now trained by Malcolm Thwaites, KELANTAN (Cape Cross - Stever House by El Grand Senor) made it two wins and three placings in six starts in Malaysia when he scored a narrow victory in the RM250,000 Sports Toto Trophy over 1400m at Sungei Besi here today.

Third to TRIPLE LUCK in the MRA Cup in Penang in March, KELANTAN stepped up on that form to beat JOKER TREASURE and company for his seventh career win. He won two races and was placed twice in listed events in New Zealand before coming out to Sinhgapore.

FIERY GAMBADE has also returned to form at the right time to win the RM200,000 National Stud Farm Challenge Cup over 1600m, the top event for graduates of the National Premier Sale.

Winner of two consecutive races at the tailend of last year, FIERY GAMBADE (Gambade - Heed Alina by Serheed) is well on his way to repay his purchase price of RM130,000 at the sales in 2006.
