Trainer Ng fined RM50,000

Trainer Ng Kok Hoong has been fined a hefty RM50,000 as a result of the seizure of items from his stable on 18 June 2008.

The at conclusion of an inquiry into the above matter today, evidence was taken from Ng, syces Choo Khay Sing and Yau See Leong and Ms Chris Lee, Ng’s Secretary.

Choo pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 133(l)(m)(a)&(b) as read with MRA Rule 21(4) in that he, an employee of Ng, registered with the MRA, at about 11:20am on the 18 June 2008 at the stables of Ng, at Stable Block 14C of the Perak Turf Club, had in his possession in motor vehicle No. WHU 8816:

1. Two syringes containing prohibited substances, namely Trenbolone and Estradiol,
2. Three syringes containing prohibited substances, namely Phenylbutazone; and
3. One syringe containing prohibited substance, namely Trenbolone,

without the authorization of the Official Veterinary Surgeon.

Choo was disqualified for three years and was advised of his right of appeal.

Ng was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 33(2) punishable under MRA Rule 21(4) in that he being a trainer licensed by the MRA, had failed to exercise his responsibility for the conduct of his staff which resulted in his syce Choo being in possession of :

1. Two syringes containing prohibited substances, namely Trenbolone and Estradiol,
2. Three syringes containing prohibited substances, namely Phenylbutazone; and
3. One syringe containing prohibited substance, namely Trenbolone,

at his Stable Block 14C of the Perak Turf Club at about 11:20am on the 18 June 2008.

Trainer KH Ng was fined RM50,000 and was advised of his right of appeal (4:40pm).

In addition, Yau was warned that should he be found to be collaborating with other MRA licensees in the commission of any breach of the MRA Rules, serious action will be taken against him.
