Kumarentheran fails in appeal

IPOH,  13 May 2008

Jockey A Kumarentheran has failed in his appeal against a three-month suspension for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

Kumarentheran was on March 10 charged under MRA Rule 44(10) for his ride on POWER OF NINE, who finished ninth to WEALTH, in the combined Classes 3 & 4 - 1800m event in Ipoh the day before.

The particulars of the charge were that after being cramped at approximately the 250m mark, he became unbalanced and remained unbalanced until shortly before the finish.

Kumarentheran filed an appeal which was heard by the Perak Turf Club Racing Stewards yesterday.

After considering submissions from Kumarentheran and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Racing Stewards dismissed the appeal and the three months suspension was confirmed to commence with effect from May 24 and to expire on August 23, both days inclusive. Kumarentheran’s deposit was forfeited.
