Australian jockeys Ronnie
Stewart and John Powell have had their visiting jockey’s licence extended by
the Singapore Turf Club.
Stewart, 24, whose current licence was due to expire on June 30, has been
granted an extension until the end of year (December 31, 2008) while Powell,
38, whose permit runs out on July 31, will now stay for another year until

Stewart, who has ridden over 300 winners in his young career, has been a
consistent performer in Singapore chalking up 43 wins in his first season in
2006 and 36 wins last year.

A winner of over 1,200 races, mainly in New South Wales and Queensland,
Powell, who goes to scale at 53kg, earned his highest honour in 2005 when he
took out the Group 1 Singapore Derby with HELLO AND GOODBYE. The same year
he also picked up a Group 2 victory with REALLY GOOD in the Kranji Mile.
