Legrix and Beasley to ride till season's end

SINGAPORE,  21 January 2008

Jockeys Eric Legrix and Danny Beasley have had their licences renewed until the end of the year.

Frenchman Legrix, whose current permit is valid until Feb 29, has proven himself to be a very accomplished rider in the five months he has ridden at Kranji. Well-sought after by trainers, the 42-year-old has so far racked up 11 wins and 24 placings from 120 rides.

A former French champion apprentice, Legrix has ridden in excess of 1300 winners, including 90 at Group level, across countries like England, USA, Hong Kong and more recently Macau. Among his most notable victories are those in the Breeders Cup and the Hong Kong Derby.

Legrix weighs in at 54kg.

Beasley is also staying on after his current visiting jockey’s licence, which runs until Mar 31, was extended by another nine months.

The 32-year-old Australian has been a welcome addition to the riding ranks in Singapore. He has already ridden 11 winners and been placed 24 times from 90 rides, despite being sidelined for six weeks due to a race fall last October.

Beasley is a winner of about 1200 races, including 14 Group 1’s such as the Golden Slipper and Doncaster Handicap.

Beasley goes to scale at 53kg.
