After narrow defeats in three consecutive Singapore Group 3 races, ONCEAUPONATIME bounced back to capture the S$200,000 Singapore Guineas over 1600m at Kranji here tonight.

Winner of the Juvenile Championship last July, ONCEUPONATIME (Van Nistelrooy - Scarlet Runner by Kingdom Bay) was beaten a short head by BIG MAVERICK in the Stewards' Cup last December, then lost out again in photo-finishes in the Singapore Three-Year-Old Sprint and Three Rings Trophy earlier this season.

Ridden by Danny Beasley tonight, the David Hill-trained colt turned the tables on BIG MAVERICK to score by one and a quarter lengths for his fifth win in 10 starts. The NZ$60,000 purchase at the Ready To Run Sale was also placed five times.

TRIGGER EXPRESS (Citidancer - Rich Resource by Chanteclair) rewrote the 1800m course record with a time of 1 min. 37.3 secs. when he won the Open handicap over the distance, shaving 0.1 secs. off the previous mark which has stood since 2002.
