Heavy rain curtails races in Penang

PENANG,  6 September 2008

It's one of Penang's biggest meetings of the year but the weather has spoilt it for the second year running.

Last year, rain wiped out the second weekend of the Sprint Trophy meeting without a race being run. Today, heavy rain curtailed racing after just four races were runs.

On the card of nine races were seven sponsored and reciprocal races and only the Oakwood Farm Trophy, Auckland Racing Club Trophy and Royal Turf Club of Thailand Trophy managed to get off the ground.

Ten-year-old EVIL GENERAL (Regal Classic - Oasis by Creese) showed his liking for the heavy track to  register his first win since October 2006 to pay RM343.

Three-time Singapore winner SILVER COIN (Catrial - Request A Fly-By by Marscay), whose last win came in June 2004, also to the winner's circle.
