IPOH,  10 April 2008

Jockey Richard Lim has failed in his appeal against a 18-month disqualification and a fine of RM30,000 for his handling of JERAM NATURAL, who trailed the field all the way in the Class 5, Div 1 - 1200m sprint in Ipoh on Jan 6.

Lim subsequently filed appeal and applied for a stay of sentence, which was initially not granted by the Stipendiary Stewards.

However, following an appeal, the Racing Stewards granted him the stay of execution on Jan 25.

Lim's appeal against the disqualification and fine was heard by the Racing Stewards today. After considering submission by Lim, his counsel, his witnesses and the Chief Stipendiary Steward, the Racing Stewards dismissed the appeal and the disqualification will commence today.

However, the fine of RM30,000 was set aside and Lim's deposit was refuned.
