Roy Rogers fined RM25,000 for misconduct

Trainer Roy Rogers was today fined RM25,000 for refusing to sign transfer documents for YHARO and YHANA.

At the conclusion of an inquiry into a complaint by owner Chan Hong Saik, after taking evidence from Rogers, Mrs Wendy Rogers, Chan and Ms Jamie Lim of Penang Turf Club, Rogers was found guilty of a charge of misconduct under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he refused to sign the transfer documents for the horses YHARO and YHANA which he had trained from January 2008 to July 2008 until outstanding veterinary bills for the amount of RM9,536.35 was paid to him by the owner.

A stipendiary stewards’ report issued today said these veterinary bills had been agreed to be absorbed by Rogers when he commenced training these two horses.

Rogers was advised of his right of appeal.
