YARTA makes local racing history when she
coasted to an easy victory in the Restricted Maiden - 1100m sprint at Sungei
Besi here today.
Ridden by SC Liew, the filly took command on
settling down at the 800m and never looked back after that, winning by two
lengths and became the first Thailand bred galloper to win in Malaysia.
YARTA is by the Kingmambo stallion Mambo Lad
out of the Shaadi mare Favilla. Mambo Lad, unplaced in three career starts
in USA, is a full brother to the Belmont Stakes winner Lemon Drop Kid.
In just his second career start, HONG FU has
joined his full sister WONDERFUL GIFT as feature race winner when he
triumphed in the RM100,000 National Stud Farm Trophy at Sungei Besi here
today.
Beaten into second place in
his debut last month, HONG FU (Magic Of Money - Lin Yin by Slavic) made no
mistake this time when he accounted for seven rivals to win the 1200m
sprint.
Earlier this year, WONDERFUL GIFT won the
Silver Tiara and Golden Tiara, both restricted to fillies and mares.
While WONDERFUL GIFT, who has won three
times thus far, cost RM58,000, HONG FU was sold for RM90,000 at the NSF sale
last year and both have plenty more wins in them.
