Trainer Don Baertschiger,
who prepared CAPABLANCA to win the Lion City Cup last year, may just have
another top-notch sprinter in AFRIEND, if the latter's debut tonight is
anything to go by.
Ridden by Robbie Fradd,
AFRIEND (Danroad - Ahava by Southern Appeal) trashed his rivals to win the
Restricted Maiden - 1100m sprint on the polytrack.
Sent out at odds-on,
AFRIEND never gave his backers any anxious moments. Tracking pacemaker
MY PAPARICH early, swept past him with ease in the home stretch to win
drawing away by six lengths.
AFRIEND covered the
distance in 1:05.7, just 0.4 second outside TUXEDO MOON's track record. It
speaks volume of the potential of the youngster. After all, he is a
half-brother to CAPABLANCA.
