ACE ALIADO stretched his
unbeaten record to five wins when he came from off the pace to win the
Benchmark 83 - 1200m sprint at Kranji tonight.
Having won his last three
starts leading from start to finish, ACE ALIADO (Towkay - Waikawa by Dance
Floor) was content to set behind the pace before staking his claim to beat
the front-running FUTURE BABY by half a length.
Surprisingly, despite his
unbeaten record, ACE ALIADO did not start favourite. It was MOORING who was
installed the odds-on favourite but did could only finish fourth after
hitting the front at the top of the straight.
STEALTH, meanwhile,
returned to the winner's circle after more than 13 months to register a huge
upset in the Open Handicap over 1800m.
STEALTH (Sakura Seeking -
Larrikin Lady by Icelandic) was out of action for more than six months after
competing in the Singapore Gold Cup last November and failed to impress in
five outings this season before tonight's event, which probably explained
his S$319 payout.
It was his sixth win in 39
starts and STEALTH took his earnings to pass the $510,000 mark, a phenomenal
return for a horse who cost just NZ$14,000 as a yearling.
