Duric serves an ace in Cup

New-kid-on-the-block Vladimir Duric, who stole the thunder with a treble yesterday, was back in the winner's circle today to collect his trophy in the Jockey Club Of Turkey Cup, a Kranji Stakes A event over 1200m.

Resuming after a spell since September, ACE ARMADA (Lord Ballina - Royal Caress by Prince Salieri) was not given much of a chance by punters but Duric was able to bring him back from a long way back in the running to score by a neck and paid $138 for a win.

ACE ARMADA was a top three-year-old in early 2007 with five consecutive wins including the Singapore Guineas. His surprise win today over a trip which he has not tasted success since his three-year-old days mean he will be the one to watch over a bit of distance in the coming weeks ahead.

Meanwhile, another visiting jockey Joao Moreira was back in the limelight with a good-priced double on ZAC VELOCITY (Success Express - Bacharach by Marscay) and CHANG YING (Speed Week - Galatee by Western Symphony).

It's now eight wins in seven meetings for the top Brazilian jockey.
