American trainer John Brink
signalled his return to the local circuit by saddling GOLDEN CHESTNUT to
victory in a Class 5 - 1200m handicap here today.
It was his first winner
since returning to the local circuit earlier this year, after having trained
successfully for many years, first in Kuala Lumpur and later in Singapore.
For Brink, a former
champion while based in Kuala Lumpur, it was his second comeback to the
local scene and his midas touch clearly showed on GOLDEN CHESTNUT, a horse
he only took over recently.
GOLDEN CHESTNUT (Made Of
Gold - Eulogy by Euclase) had won two races in Singapore in 2007 but went
amiss after that, prompting his owners to transfer him to Brink.
GOLDEN CHESTNUT was having
his first start for Brink today and quite appropriately, it should be Oscar
Chavez who guided the seven-year-old home.
The Panamanian was first
brought to the local circuit to ride for Brink and the success brought back
memories of many victories they had in the past.
