BEAU BRUMMELL, who achieved his last victory
in Class 3, out-sprinted Singapore's top two sprinters to win the $200,000
Merlion Trophy, the first leg of the Singapore Sprint Series, at Kranji here
tonight.
Since his last victory in
the middle of last year, BEAU BRUMMEL (My Halo - Lady In Blue) has been
consistent but without much luck.
“He was extremely unlucky in the Three Rings Trophy
last time out. If he had not been held up at a critical stage he should have
won that race," said trainer David Hill.
“There was no such bad luck today. After a dream run
on the rails, he had the lucky breaks and just sprinted away to a superb
win."
It was the gelding sixth win in 23 starts and Dill
rates him as good as his stable star ONCEUPONATIME.
Lionel Lee ended a 10-month
drought when RIGHT CLICK (Mellifont - Mensana by Sound
Reason) broke through for his maiden win in 12 starts.
There was also reason to
celebrate for Michael Yap with the 26 year old apprentice booted home his
first winner on EASY (Desert Prince - Sky Watch by Star Watch).
