Unsafe track curtails Ipoh

The last five races in a card of ten were cancelled due to the underfoot conditions here this afternoon, not before apprentice Harmeet Singh Gill booted home his first winner of the weekend to consolidate his position at the top of the jockey's table. Continuous rain over the course of the past week rendered the track "heavy" for today's races. After the running of Race 5, a delegation of riders who rode in the race made a request to the Racing Stewards to abandon the remainder of the races which was accepted. Harmeet, who has been riding on a crest of a wave since winning the apprentice championship last year, scored a runaway win on BRILLIANT TYCOON (Deputy Governor - Azkaban by Maroof) to bring his tally to 12 for the season, two ahead of fellow apprentice Lou Ho. It was the second win in 22 starts for BRILLIANT TYCOON. The afternoon's proceedings ended with IT'SDWING (Mull Of Kintyre - Dowager by Rivotious) creating an upset to pay RM150 for a win. It was his second win in 11 starts. |
