Coetzee saddles good price double

Owner Beh Chin Pheng leads in FULL POWER

After missing out on the first heat yesterday, champion trainer Kevin Coetzee won both the second and third heats today to ensure that he will have two runners in the grand final of the Da Ma Cai Malaysia 2009 3YO Championship on July 5.

Newcomer BLUE TOSCA (Canny Lad - Desert Bride by Desert King) came with a well-timed run to beat the odds-on favourite CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, winner of his debut last month, by half a length in the first qualification race today.

Coetzee was expected to take the final heat with A STORY, who was placed in his initial two outings. But stablemate FULL POWER (Zeditave - Finance Review by Last Tycoon) stole the show when he won by three quarters of a length while A STORY finished a long fourth.

Racegogers were treated to a thrilling finish when NEVERANINCH and BRIGHT KING went to the line locked together and the camera could not separate them.

But MW Teh, the rider of NEVERANINCH, successfully filed a protest against the rider of BRIGHT KING for interference shortly before the finishing post. It was upheld and BRIGHT KING was relegated to second.
