Conjure the hero in Wira Malaysia Cup

SUMMER FIESTA's four-year winning streak in the RM300,000 Wira Malaysia Cup came to a disappointing end here today when he finished down the field in the 1600m event.

SUMMER FIESTA's dominance in the 'derby' for Maaysian breds in the past brought his earnings to just over RM1.1m, the first Malaysian bred to surpass the RM1m mark.

But today, it was the young upstart CONJURE (Magic Of Money - Kuala Lady by Centaine), making his first appearance in the Cup, who reigned supreme, winning by one and a quarter lengths from the rank outsider DONNA, unplaced in four previous starts.

It was the fourth consecutive win in the Cup for jockey Oscar Chavez, who was successful in the last three years with SUMMER FIESTA.
