DREAM EMPEROR, winner of the Three Year Old Special Stakes over 1200m in Penang on Dec 28, the final day of the 2008 racing season, has been disqualified. Trained by Abdul Rahim, DREAM EMPEROR (King Charlemagne - Tinsel by Lion Cavern) was a runaway of the race restricted to Northern Hemisphere bred three-year-olds, the second of two staged late last year. The Stewards
concluded an inquiry today at the Perak Turf Club. After taking evidence
from Prof Dr Tan Soo Choon, the chief analyst, Usains Holding Sdn Bhd and Dr
Reza Singam, the Veterinary Surgeon of the Perak Turf Club, trainer Abdul
Rahim pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 134(6)(a) as read with MRA
Rule 134(13) in that he accepted to run DREAM EMPEROR which ran 1st placing
in the above race and its post-race urine sample subsequently returned
positive to “Ketotifen & Salbutamol”, prohibited substances under MRA Rules.
In another case also involving trainer Abdul Rahim, SPEED RANGER was disqualified from his second placing in the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders Association Stakes (Class 1 - 1400m) on Dec 28. SPEED RANGER's post race urine test also returned positive to “Ketotifen & Salbutamol”.
Abdul Rahim was also fined RM15,000 and was
advised of his right of appeal. |
