Top rated horses have taken
out the first two heats of the Da Ma Cai Malaysia 3YO Championship here in
Sungai Besi today.
BRIGHT PRINCE (Van
Nistelrooy - Quiet Queen by King Hadrian), backed down to odds on, made it
five wins in six starts with another front-running display in the first
heat.
Trained by Osman Sidek and
ridden by E Aslam, BRIGHT PRINCE won comfortably by a length.
PERFECT PINS (Pins - La
Cent by Centaine), trained by Frank Maynard and ridden by A Nawawi, stayed
unbeaten in two starts by trashing his opposition by four lengths in the
second heat.
While BRIGHT PRINCE cost
just NZ$20,000 as a yearling, AG Tan of DOC Stable dished out NZ$170,000 for
PERFECT PINS at the NZ Premier Yearling Sale two years ago.
Seven more heats will be
held, including two tomorrow, to select the field for the grand final in
Penang on July 5.
The Da Ma Cai Malaysia 3YO
Championship was first held two years ago but was not staged last year
because of the lack of 3YOs as a result of the ban of imports from
Australia.
