Apprentice jockey Yang Chee Leong (How Yang) will serve an 18-month disqualification after failing in his appeal today.

Yang was on Nov 22 found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(8) for his ride on WESTERN CONQUEROR in Ipoh on Nov 16.

The Perak Turf Club racing stewards heard his appeal today.

After considering submissions from Yang, his counsel and the deputy chief stipendiary steward, and after considering all the evidence, the Racing Stewards dismissed the appeal and the eighteen months disqualification was confirmed to commence with effect from Nov 22 (and to expire May 2010, both days inclusive (since Yang was not granted a stay of sentence). Yang’s deposit was forfeited.
