Michael Freedman, in his first full season in
Singapore, has recorded his first Group win at Kranji when he sent out ANY
HUMOUR to victory in the S$200,000 Group 3 Chairman's Trophy over 1800m
today.
ANY HUMOUR (Danewin -
Damasta by Ogygian), bought for just A$20,000 as a yearling, won three of
his eight starts in Australia, including one each at Rosehill and
Canterbury.
Brought over by Freedman
last year, ANY HUMOUR started his Singapore campaign with two consecutive
placings before getting off the mark with a runaway win in Class 3 last
month.
He was then purchased by
Northwest Racing Stable early this month and the new outfit reaped instant
reward with the victory today.
“I’ve always had a big opinion of this horse, but
today was his biggest test and I was also a bit wary of the track after all
that rain,” said Freedman.
“But he handled it very well. I knew he would be hard
to run down once I saw how comfortable he was on the track.
“The QEII Cup is now right on target. We’ll then have
to wait and see if he can go on to the SIA Cup.
“But it’s already a big buzz to get my first Group
race here and I hope there’ll be more to come.”
